This 36-year-old Chicago guitarist plays in a strikingly original style, the aural equivalent of a Jackson Pollock painting, laced with abstract (atonal) filigree lines and an undercurrent of searching lyricism. His Fender Stratocaster's heavy-gauge strings produce a uniquely percussive sound; it's nice to hear obsessive activity combined with quiet dynamics. - Paul De Barros |
